The reason I volunteer with WP is because I believe that democratic politics is fundamental to the long term future of Singapore.
My most memorable WP moment so far is when we were helping out low income families. No matter how poor the families were, the most striking thing was the ways they tried to maintain a sense of human dignity amidst difficult conditions.
Now that WP turns 60 this year, my wish is for the party to remember and exemplify its history of resilience in the face of overwhelming odds. To quote one Atticus Finch: “Courage is knowing you’re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do.”
The MP that I admire the most is Pritam Singh. Despite the constant scrutiny and pressure, I believe he is still steadfast in his sense of purpose to serve the residents. He takes time and effort to understand the concerns of the residents on the ground, and duly brings them up as issues in parliament.
When I am not volunteering for WP-related activities, I am a long suffering Tottenham Hotspurs fan. Maybe they will win the league when WP becomes the government. I also read and write when I can.
